Sharon McKeeman To All Instructors

Hello there - I'm Sharon McKeeman, a mother of four, author, educator, photographer, dancer, artist, and urban homesteader. With experience teaching in public, private, and charter education, along with over a decade of homeschooling my own children, I bring a diverse perspective to my role as an educator. Living in Southern California for over a decade and traveling extensively has also provided me with a rich tapestry of experiences, which I weave into my teaching.

In addition to my teaching experience, I contribute to various digital and print publications, including the Wild + Free homeschool community. My background in art education from Indiana University, coupled with my professional work in photography and storytelling, has equipped me with expertise in literature, communications and the creative arts.

I designed the middle and high school English classes I am offering through Legacy to immerse students in living literature, encouraging them to engage deeply with important narratives and develop their own voices as writers. My goal is to empower them to write in ways that make a real impact because being able to write well is essential even in the digital age.

Above all, I prioritize nurturing a love for learning over rigid checklists. I strive to cultivate curiosity and the pursuit of excellence in my interactions with students, recognizing that each individual learns in their own unique way. The written word and creative arts remain cornerstones of education, and I'm passionate about helping students of all backgrounds and learning styles become confident, thoughtful writers and artists.
