Rebecca Kuritz To All Instructors

Hi! I’m Rebecca — a professional photographer with over 30 years of experience and a big love for helping kids discover their own creativity. I started taking pictures when I was seven, and now I spend my days photographing concerts, music festivals, and once-in-a-lifetime moments — and teaching young people how to tell their own stories through photography.

I live in the hills of San Diego with my three kids (ages 10, 15, and 26), a crew of rescue animals, and even a few wild horses we’re rehabbing. My two younger kids are both involved in my work; my 15-year-old son is a professional videographer, and we often collaborate on music and event projects together. My oldest son, who was homeschooled through elementary and middle school and  is in school for nuclear engineering. I understand first hand how important our parenting and educational roles are!

When I teach your children, I bring a fun, encouraging energy to the room. I believe kids thrive when they feel empowered, valued and enthusiastic for the subject matter. Photography is an amazing way to build confidence, learn focus, and explore self-expression in a world that’s often whirling too fast around them.

Whether I am working with younger 'fresh to photography' students - or with more energized and tech savvy teenagers, my classes are hands-on, fun, and rooted in the belief that every child has a story worth capturing. Our lessons are structured in a way so students take ownership in each lesson and help create photographic art together. We have responsibilities and expectations, however my class is your childs' time to learn the beautiful spectrum of photography from the technical details of camera operation to working hands on in a professional photography session scenario. I want them to feel they can authentically refer to themselves as a photographer by the end of our semester.

I look forward to learning from your children, sharing my knowledge, partnering with parents and passing on a legacy of photography magic!
