Bill Burkhardt To All Instructors
My passion for insect biology began in childhood and has grown into a lifelong pursuit of learning and teaching. As an entomology specialist, I bring together deep scientific knowledge and fun hands-on experience to create an engaging and thoughtful learning environment.
I combine my scientific background with years of teaching experience to create engaging, hands-on learning environments where students explore, observe, and discover the natural world. My goal is to make science both understandable and exciting, helping students develop curiosity and confidence as they learn.
With degrees from Virginia Tech (B.S. in Biology, M.S. in Entomology) and a strong background in the biological sciences, I create learning experiences that help students not only understand insects and biology, but also truly appreciate their complexity and beauty. My teaching blends scientific rigor with a contagious sense of curiosity about the natural world.
I have also been actively engaged in local science outreach programs that foster community trust and learning at Elfin Forest Reserve, Escondido Creek Conservancy, Rancho Santa Fe Elementary, Lighthouse Christian Preschool, and various City of San Diego libraries.
